An Edina native recently secured a national title in handball, defeating all comers to win the 70-plus division title at the United States Handball Association's (USHA) Masters Singles Tournament.

Gary Rohrer won the tournament for his age bracket, held at the San Diego Racquet and Tennis Club from April 11-14. Rohrer defeated fellow handballer Bob Braine of San Jose, CA, in the final, on scores of 21-16, (8-21) and 11-5.

The final matchup was Rohrer's third consecutive match to go to a tiebreaker, including an 11-10 tiebreaker win in the semifinals against James Ward of St. Louis.
