Edina Girls’ Golf Team Sets State Record

The Hornets won the AAA state championship with the lowest score in tournament history.

The Edina girls’ golf team took home this year’s AAA state championship—setting a new record for the lowest score in tournament history.

The Hornets score of 644 beat runner-up Alexandria by 11 points after rain delays Thursday. The win brings the girls golf championship total to eight, the most in Minnesota.

Junior Emily Romanow led the way for the Hornets with a total score of 150 that gave her a sixth-place finish.

Others on the team were:

  • Freshman Hannah Hankinson, 14th place, 158 points
  • Junior Payton Follestad, tied for 32nd, 168 points
  • Freshman Katie Engelking, tied for 32nd, 168 points
  • Senior Meghan Herring, tied for 50th, 176 points
  • Senior Clayre Tenquist, tied for 71st, 189 points

In the boys’ competition, sophomore Drew Engelking tied for 26th with 154 points.
