Gene Bersten, who runs an Edina dance studio with his wife, was cut from Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" on Tuesday in an early stage of the competition.

But the owner of the Dance With Us America studio in Edina's Southdale Center still had cause to celebrate.

His 19-year-old younger brother, Alan, made it into the Top 20 of the reality show competition and will have a chance to continue his ballroom dancing on a national stage.  (Watch an interview with Alan here.)

Alan wrote a heartwarming message on Facebook to his brother Tuesday after the episode aired:

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank my role model and my best friend, my brother Gene Bersten. He has inspired me and taught me everything I know!"
