Spaulding Saved: $7,650 Check Ensures Bronze Dog's Future on France

Salut Bar Americain and multiple Edina residents worked together to raise $7,650 to keep Spaulding, a bronze dog statue, in the 50th and France neighborhood.

Spaulding, an 80-pound bronze canine, has some friends with deep pockets.

A campaign to save the France Avenue sculpture has raised $7,650, enough to purchase the floppy-eared mutt from artist Heidi Hoy.

Hoy was presented with an oversize check Friday morning in a ceremony outside Salut Bar Americain, whose staff and patrons helped raise the money to keep Spaulding.

In our video above, watch Hoy talk about the process of sculpting Spaulding and what it means to have the support of the community.
