Outdoor Ice Skating Expected to Start Friday at Centennial Lakes Park

The 10-acre lake will open Friday, depending on ice conditions and weather.

The city of Edina's planning on opening Centennial Lakes to ice skaters on Friday "as long as ice conditions and weather cooperate."

With temperatures not expected to rise above 32 degrees any time soon, you can start polishing your skates.

Centennial Lakes Park features a 10-acre lake groomed daily during the winter for free ice skating.

Skate rentals cost $6 per pair, and ice sleds can be rented for $7 per hour.

The rink-side warming hut boasts indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and a concession stand sells hot chocolate, pop, popcorn, hot dogs, chips and candy.

Concessions stand and skate rental hours are 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sundays and most school holidays.

Edina's 12 outdoor ice skating rinks are expected to open on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
