(MAP) How Did Edina Vote in Senate District 49 Race?

Patch combed through results from Tuesday's election to see which precincts went to Keith Downey and which voted for Melisa Franzen.

Melisa Franzen (DFL) won the race for Senate District 49 by more than 3,800 votes against Republican Keith Downey.

But how exactly did the political newcomer upset the seasoned state representative? And which parts of Edina went for each candidate?

Patch has combed through results from Edina's 20 precincts, crafting those vote totals into a handy map (seen above). If you'd rather see the hard numbers, a chart of each precinct's votes regarding Senate District 49 are included below.

appears to be an economic divide in Edina. It would be interesting to see the presidential results in Edina by precinct. Edina is probably the wealthiest city in MN that went for Obama.

David, the map would basically be identical to this one. I put it together, but didn't post it to the site because it's literally the exact same map. Each precinct that went for Franzen also went for Obama and each one that voted for Downey also voted for Romney. You can find the map here: https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=211908478821788859179.0004ce0200d248d82d253&msa=0&ll=44.905982,-93.329544&spn=0.09532,0.2211

The new layout of the Patch is fine. A few of the liberal/left-wing posters are not happy thatRead More they can't have a running commentary on each story, and hurl personal insults at conservative posters.

Hi @mary kosters. Were you able to fill out the feedback form? We're collecting feedback so we canRead More decide what, if any, changes to make in the future with the layout. The lead photo of the marching band is intended to stay the same every day. That is not a story photo; it is a picture that shows a slice of life in Edina. Can you be a bit more specific about what you don't like about the division of news, home and business? Those divisions are almost identical to how things were divided prior to the redesign, so I want to understand what you find useless.
