Thief Caught on Camera Stealing Package From Morningside Doorstep

Edina police are looking for help identifying the man in the surveillance footage.

An Edina resident's surveillance system has captured a video of a brazen thief who stole a package from his front door in broad daylight.

Early this month, Edina resident Ehren Seim ordered an Amazon.com package delivered to his home at the intersection of Morningside Road and Grimes Avenue.

A few days ago, surprised it was taking so long for the package to arrive, he looked online and saw it had been reported delivered.

Seim then checked surveillance footage on his iPad and found a video of a man in a black sweater removing the package from his doorstep on Dec. 4.

It's a common crime around the holiday season, but capturing a thief on camera is rare.

"We live on a very busy intersection here," Seim told FOX 9. "It takes a lot of gall to just walk over and grab this thing and leave."Seim's thief took just two patio furniture covers, but Seim told Edina Patch that he learned a lesson.

"We sometimes become complacent with online shopping, deliveries, leaving valuables in our car," he said. "I made it easy for this thief.

If you recognize the man in the pictures above, you're urged to call Edina police.
