TCF Bank Branch at 50th & France Robbed

The branch at 50th & France was robbed Monday morning, July 9, according to police spokesperson Kaylin Martin.

Edina Police set up a perimeter around the bank and used a police K-9 to canvass the area for suspects, but could not locate the robber.

The robbery call reached the at 10:16 a.m., according to city officials. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with additional information regarding this robbery is encouraged to contact the FBI at 763-569-8000 or the Edina Police Department at 952-826-1600.

In our technological day and age, I'm always surprised when someone pulls an old-school bank robbery. It seems like such risky business what with cameras covering every inch of many banks. I wonder why anyone would even attempt it?

Looks like the guy tried to foil the cameras with a mask or something, judging by the pic. I'm glad I had to be down at city hall yesterday morning. I wouldn't have wanted to run into that.

I'm more shocked nobody at 50th & France saw a guy walking down the street in all of that and didn't think something was awry. Not exactly the typical attire for shopping at trendy boutiques on a hot July day.

True that!

Fortuneately it sounds like it was not an armed robbery since there was no mention of a weapon. Is it my imagination or does there seem to be an untick of crime in Edina? The Edina Police department publishes a crime report but they do crime overlays on maps to see if there are any patterns?

What a mess already on US 169! Why don't they just close most of the ramps now???? That way,Read More traffic would run smoother. There is no reason for cars to try to get on a freeway that is already jammed. Make those other drivers use side streets.

The new layout of the Patch is fine. A few of the liberal/left-wing posters are not happy thatRead More they can't have a running commentary on each story, and hurl personal insults at conservative posters.

Hi @mary kosters. Were you able to fill out the feedback form? We're collecting feedback so we canRead More decide what, if any, changes to make in the future with the layout. The lead photo of the marching band is intended to stay the same every day. That is not a story photo; it is a picture that shows a slice of life in Edina. Can you be a bit more specific about what you don't like about the division of news, home and business? Those divisions are almost identical to how things were divided prior to the redesign, so I want to understand what you find useless.
