Edina Man Has Personally Delivered Over A Million Sandwiches to the Homeless and Hungry

Allan Law will be the subject of a new documentary film, set to premiere in 2014.

The 17 freezers in Allan Law's Edina apartment are packed with thousands of sandwiches.

In 2012, Law handed out more than 750,000 sandwiches—mostly turkey, bologna and cheese—to the homeless and the hungry on the streets of the Twin Cities. This year, the retired middle school teacher is on track to deliver 700,000 sandwiches to people living on the street or in homeless shelters.

"People say, 'You're crazy,' and I say, 'No. If I was homeless, or if I had a couple little kids that needed food or something, I would appreciate someone coming, giving a helping hand,'" he told FOX 9.

Law, 68, coordinates with local churches, businesses and organizations, picking up sandwiches daily in a minivan inscribed with the words "Love One Another," the name of his non-profit

During the night, from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m., Law drives around the cities, making up to 50 stops, delivering sandwiches along with basic necessities and words of encouragement. Law told FOX 9 he sleeps only one or two hours a night.

"Last time I slept in a bed was 12 years ago," he said. "The most important thing in my life has always been to bring happiness to others."

Law's work has attracted the attention of documentary filmmaker Jesse Roesler, who is featuring him in an upcoming movie, "The Starfish Throwers," set to open early next year.
