Red’s Savoy Pizza Opening Sit-Down Edina Restaurant in February

Red's Savoy will open a 42-seat restaurant near the interchange of Highway 100 and Highway 494 in early February.

Red’s Savoy Pizza, a St. Paul-born chain known for it spicy sauce and generous toppings, is opening a 42-seat restaurant in south Edina this February.

While most of Red’s Savoy’s 11 Midwestern locations are limited to takeout and delivery, the Edina branch, at 4960 W 77th Street, will offer sit-down dinners and a lunch buffet.

A four-seat bar serving beer and wine is also included in the 2,300-square-foot-space.

The Edina branch is part of a westward push by the local pizza chain, which has nine Minnesota locations stretching from Burnsville to Stillwater, said Reed Daniels, Red’s Savoy’s director of marketing.

“It’s pushing the brand left in the cities,” Daniels said. “The Edina community’s a really strong community, and even though it stretches a vast, geographic area, it still has that nice, hometown feel.”

Daniels described the pizza as “not pretentious.”

“Red’s is known for its spicy sauce and sausage,” he said. “What sets us apart from most pizza is a thinner crust—not like a crispy-thin crust—that we load with more toppings and cheese than just about any other place in the Twin Cities.”
