Lennar's Luxury Apartment Complex Could Include Deli/Supermarket

Lennar Multifamily wants to build 273 luxury apartment units on York Avenue.

More details are emerging on Lennar Multifamily's proposed luxury six-story apartment complex on York Avenue, near Edina's Southdale Shopping Center.

The developer is hoping to build 273 apartment units at the 6725 York Avenue site, along with 22,289 square feet of retail space that could accommodate a supermarket or deli.

The apartment building would be built on the 3.4 acre Borofka's Furniture site. (A Borofka's store manager told Edina Patch last week that the furniture store would likely move to another location, possibly in Edina, though the manager said that discussions have not been finalized with the owner.)

According to a proposal prepared for the Edina planning commission, a parking lot would be built in front of the retail space along York Avenue and underground tenant parking would be available beneath the apartments.

Lennar plans to acquire five single-family homes along Xerxes Avenue

Lennar is asking the city to increase the building height and housing density limits in place for the site. The planning commission will consider the requests at its meeting this evening.

The site is located near a 232-unit York Avenue apartment complex that StuartCo is building in the Southdale parking lot and a 239-unit complex being built next to Byerly's.
