Buffalo Wild Wings Coming to Southdale Center

The restaurant chain plans to open an Edina location in late summer.

Buffalo Wild Wings is planning to open a restaurant in Edina’s Southdale Center late this summer.

The Golden Valley-based beer-and-wings chain will move into a 6,500 square foot location in the southeast side of the mall, near P.F. Chang’s and Rojo Mexican Grill, Southdale confirmed Monday morning.

“We’re so excited to get that space filled and to have Buffalo Wild Wings come in,” said Lauren Carpenter, Southdale’s marketing director. “I think a sports bar in Edina is a good addition for the community in general.”

Buffalo Wild Wings signed a lease for the space vacated by Maggiano’s Little Italy in January 2010.

The chain has more than 960 locations across North America, including 21 in the Twin Cities. Locations close to Edina include the Mall of America, Dinkytown, Savage and Chanhassen.

Why doesn't Southdale have an American homestyle food restaurant? Buffalo Wild Wings is mediocre at best.

This is a really good fit in this space. Polarizing, I've gotten gleeful responses and cringes in equal measure when I mentioned this move. This fills a nice gap in restaurants types that will be in walking distance to the new apartments being built along York.
