(PHOTOS) Edina Ed Fund Shows, Tells Impact on Students
Money raised at the annual event goes to support various initiatives within Edina Public Schools.
Nearly 400 Edina residents turned out for the Edina Education Fund's 5th annual Show & Tell Luncheon at St. Patrick's Church on Feb. 6.
Ed Fund Executive Director Karen Nelson said organizers were pleased with the turnout and amount of money raised to support initiatives within the school district.
"There was an awesome energy and buzz in the room," Nelson said. "We had many new guests, tables of guys, couples tables and lots of parents with school age kids."
Three new initiatives were announced at the luncheon, including a math center at Valley View Middle School, a writing center at South View Middle School and a new online digital learning website "Ecademy" for the entire district.
Superintendent Ric Dressen said the district can't accomplish its goals with state funding alone—it needs support from the entire community.
"We've come together to plan for the future," Dressen said. "The Edina Ed Fund has been a wonderful partner to the district, in raising funds and bringing innovation and bringing support to our learners."

Our Lady of Grace School and Parish have been the center of our family life for over 20 years. While our children grew up, we all were involved in volunteer efforts, and always were aware of reaching out to the needs of the community at large. Volunteering was part of daily life at OLG School. Some of our best memories probably involve work done with other families on such efforts as Feed My Starving Children, Sharing and Caring Hands, Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos, mission trips, and gifts to individual needy families by each classroom at Christmas.
Now that our oldest graduate of OLG is a Navy Aircraft Commander (Lt. Sean Anderson), the focus has changed somewhat. Ministry to Military Families at OLG, as well as the Southwest Metro Blue Star Moms take up much of my volunteer time and treasure. No matter the focus, volunteering gives you a positive and hopeful attitude that you can make a difference. Susan Anderson
