Okee Dokee Brothers: Edina Mainstays Earn Grammy Fame
The popular Twin Cities children's band will actually be playing Edinborough Park on Valentine's Day.
The Okee Dokee Brothers are bringing the Grammy Award for Best Children's Album of the Year back to the Twin Cities for their CD Can You Canoe?
Band members Justin Lansing—banjo and lead vocals—and Joe Mailander—acoustic guitar and lead vocals—are no strangers to Edina. Prior to a past show at Edinborough Park, Mailander chatted with Edina Patch about the inspiration behind their imaginative children's music.
"A lot of it has to do with the fact that we grew up together, having similar childhood experiences, going on adventures, exploring the outdoors," Mailander said. "The common thread through our albums and music...comes from our shared childhood experience."
The YouTube video above shows them playing a pre-Grammy show Saturday in Los Angeles.
And if you're eager to cheer on our local Grammy winners on Valentine's Day, they'll be playing a live show at noon Thursday, Feb. 14, at Edinborough Park. Better yet, that show will be completely free.
