There are different levels of commitment when it comes to Black Friday shopping. Whether you’re a diehard ready with a pot of coffee at 2 a.m. or someone who values sleep over sales, we’ve got the information you need to tackle Black Friday in Edina. 

For the Night Owl 

Some people would prefer to stay up late rather than get up early. For those who fall into that category, set your sights on SuperTarget. Opening so early on Black Friday it’s technically Thursday, SuperTarget will be closed on Thanksgiving and then open its doors at midnight on Black Friday, remaining open until 11 p.m. that night.

The same goes for Best Buy, just a skip and a jump up York Avenue, which will also open its doors to deal hungry shoppers for the first time at midnight on Black Friday.

Your midnight run can include Southdale as well. Southdale will have what Lauren Carpenter, director of marketing and business development, is referring to as a “soft open” at midnight, when some of Southdale’s stores will open, including: Aeropostale, American Eagle, Arden B, Banana Republic, Bath and Body Works, The Body Shop, Buckle, Caribou Coffee, Express, GAP, Gap Kids, Herberger's, Macy's, New York & Company and Victoria's Secret.

For the Early Bird 

Southdale will officially open at 4 a.m. Early risers will be rewarded with a breakfast of pastries, coffee and other beverages served by mall management. Black Friday at Southdale will also feature photos with Santa, ushering in the Christmas season.

At 50th & France, The Bead Monkey will be having a storewide Black Friday sale from 6-10 a.m., where the early bird gets the bead. The biggest discounts start bright and early at 6 a.m.

Also at 50th & France, Steele Fitness will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, with deals continuing throughout the weekend. On Friday, find an active apparel sale with discounts up to 75 percent as well as a free, open to the public “Turkey Burn” fitness class at 12:30 p.m. Saturday features a free “Shopping Sculpt” fitness class at 12:30 p.m. Sunday brings additional markdowns.

All weekend, STEELE Fitness will also run a toy drive to benefit the Children’s Hospital. Each day you donate you’ll be entered to win a $500 STEELE gift card, with double entries for donations on Sunday.

For the Shopper Who Opts for Beauty Sleep

Galleria is opening its doors a nice and easy one hour early at 9 a.m. (otherwise known as nine hours after SuperTarget and Best Buy).

With few exceptions (like The Bead Monkey above), the shops at 50th & France will be keeping regular hours, but select stores will be offerings specials. Here’s a sampling:

Buy one, get one half off sale throughout the store. (The offer is good for two items within one category. Categories cannot be combined. Lesser valued item is discounted. Denim is not included in the BoGo sale, but the store will offer $10 off all denim.)

Bessie's Boutique 

For Black Friday, Bessie’s Boutique will have a 40 percent off sale on all fall apparel, 30 percent off all gowns and cocktail dresses, and buy one pair of pants or jeans, get the second pair half off (must be of equal or lesser value).

Bluebird Boutique

20 percent off everything in the store Friday through Sunday. 

Fringe Women's Accessories 

Fringe Women’s Accessories will offer a 20 percent discount storewide, including handbags and sale items. Refreshments will also be served.

Grethen House 

Grethen House is already in the middle of a 30 percent off sale, and will also offer special Black Friday markdowns.

il Vostro

il Vostro is bringing back its little black dress sale for Friday and Saturday, with all black dresses in the shop on sale. Owner Katie Egan said the timing is good for the sale, as the shop has a great selection of holiday and cocktail dresses for the season. 

Ladyslipper Boutique

20 percent off everything in the store Friday through Sunday.

Live, Laugh, Love

Customers who purchase $100 in Vera Bradley items will receive a free tote bag worth $48. Live, Laugh, Love also has a top secret Black Friday offering from Pandora. Owner Kary Shaw said, “Pandora has a special which I can’t talk about except to say that they have a special Black Friday charm coming out, limited edition. I’ve seen it; it’s very cool.”

Nani Nalu Beachware Boutique

The boutique will be offering a gift card special for Black Friday. With purchase of a $100 gift card, receive a bonus $25 gift card to give to a friend or keep for yourself.

Spirit will be having a Black Friday sale with 20 to 70 percent off the entire store.
