Edina's only remaining Blockbuster Video store will be closing down as soon as it liquidates its remaining inventory, according to store officials.
The Edina store put up a massive "Store Closing" banner earlier this week, plastering its windows with closing sale signs. Once all of the DVDs, Blu-rays and video games are sold off, the store will officially close.
The Gus Young Lane location is among three Minnesota stores to announce they're going out of business, including shops in Cloquet and Mountain Iron.
There's no word what might replace the Blockbuster Video, which shares its neighborhood with Davanni's, Starbucks and The Eden Avenue Grill.
The only other nearby Blockbuster in Minneapolis shuttered its doors last year and will soon be reborn as the Red Cow restaurant. According to Blockbuster's website, that means the closest remaining store will be on Lyndale Avenue in Bloomington.
Additional stores are still operating in Uptown Minneapolis, West St. Paul and Rosemount.
For anyone interested in scoring some deep discounts on movies and/or games, the store is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays. Additional information is available by calling the store at (952) 925-8747.
