Edina native Matt Van Voorhis has signed to play hockey at the University of Denver for the 2013-14 season.

Head Coach George Gwozdecky announced the addition of four student-athletes joining the team, including Van Voorhis. The Edina-born defenseman is currently playing his second season of hockey with the Sioux Falls Stampede, where he has already registered three goals and nine assists over the first 25 games this season.

"We are very excited and pleased about the addition of four quality student-athletes that will be joining the Pioneer hockey program in 2013-14," Gwozdecky said. "Each of the incoming players will play a role that will help our program continue to compete for conference and national championships.  We are looking forward to having them bring their talents to Denver next season."
