Edina High School Ranked 76th in Nation

Newsweek's latest rankings place Edina atop Minnesota schools.

has once again topped the list of best Minnesota schools, having been ranked 76th in America as part of Newsweek's annual Best High Schools list.

Edina was ranked with a 99 percent graduation rate, 94 percent college matriculation score, an SAT average of 1887 and an AP/IB score of 3.7. A total of nine Minnesota high schools made the top 500 list, though Edina was the only one to break the top 100.

Superintendent Ric Dressen said the recognition is a "compliment to our entire community."

"I realize our students' success that leads to national honors comes from a team effort," Dressen said. "Students, staff, parents, and community members all give their very best starting in our early education programs and culminating at graduation. I congratulate our entire District community on this outstanding recognition."

Only last year, EHS ranked 178th in the nation as part of Newsweek's list. Edina ranked 111th in 2009 and 93rd in both 2008 and 2007.

Newsweek revamped its methodology this year, scoring each school according to six components: graduation rate, college matriculation rate, AP tests taken per graduate, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores and AP courses offered.

Other Minnesota schools to rank in the top 500 include: Mahtomedi High School (158), Lakeville North High School (178), Century High School (210), St. Louis Park Senior High School (248), Andover High School (364), Apple Valley High School (451) and Simley High School (478).
