Edina Events to Feature Fabulous Fall Fashion

Bright. Bold. Beautiful. That’s how  summed up fall makeup trends in an email alerting clients of their August and September Shine Like a Jewel Make Up Events.    
 
I eagerly attended the August event so I might bring Edina Patch readers some of JUUT’s innovative ideas in wearing bold, beautiful makeup.    

Greeted and seated by Salon Manager Andrea Julson, I enjoyed a coolglass of cucumber water as she offered up some fall makeup insight before my appointment at the Southdale location.

"Everyone’s eyes tend to be their striking point, so to have colors that accent that beauty is absolutely fabulous," Julson explained. "The Aveda colors that are out there right now do that."

Julson elaborated, "They’re jewel tone colors. Your makeup artist will show you an absolutely gorgeous burgundy color that really pops, along with a beautiful blue that’s not quite the '80s blue that used to be, but more of a modern blue."  

"There’s a beautiful jade tone too, and pairing it with a neutral gold is just lovely," added Julson, wearing said jewel tones wonderfully.

JUUT Makeup Artist Alissa Borrink began our appointment by cleansing my skin with sonic technology developed by the creators of the Sonicare toothbrush. The "Clarisonic" has a gentle brush that oscillates 300 times per second and is said to cleanse so well that skin care products are better absorbed, oily or dry patches are reduced and pores appear smaller. Regardless of results, the cleansing process felt phenomenal.

Borrink sang the praises of Aveda’s plant-based ingredients as she removed the Green Science Perfecting Cleanser from my face. She then toned my skin with Green Science Replenishing Toner, which reduces the appearance of pores.

Next, Borrink applied a base to my face using Aveda moisturizing tint instead of foundation.

"I put this on first and if needed, I go in with a concealer," said Borrink. "Most people don’t need as much coverage as they think they do. I think it’s nice to just let skin look like skin.

"Unless you really need to hide a lot, do as little coverage as you can possible get away with." 

As Borrink blotted and plotted her way around my face, she carefully charted an Aveda makeup map, so I could navigate the new colors and products at home.

JUUT’s Southdale location will host their next Fall Makeup Event on Thursday Sept. 22, from 11 a.m.-7:15 p.m. Space is limited, so call (612) 332-4438 for an appointment.

45-minute appointments are free with the purchase of $25 or more in Aveda make up or skincare products.

Sooner than later, the glamorous is also hosting a Fall Fashion event. Fashion's Night Out takes place from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8. 

Fashion lovers will enjoy fashion, shopping, meet local and national designers and attend exclusive trunk shows.

Among the many store events taking place tonight, here is a sneak peak at a few:

: Christopher Fischer trunk show featuring fine cashmere and accessories.

: Fall presentation from 6:30-7 p.m., including informal modeling and refreshments.

: Shopping, sweets and sweeps—enter to win a new pair of Cole Haan shoes every month for an entire year!

Local designer Anne M. Cramer will be in store with her new fall collection; also see the Glamourpuss NYC trunk show previewing their fur hats, funnels and scarves.

Events will be hosted at more than 20 Galleria boutiques and restaurants at the intersection of 69th Street and France Avenue.
