Assistant City Manager Karen Kurt said the boards and commissions are a "great resource to staff and the City Council."
"If you're passionate about a topic, it's a great way to influence the direction that the City might take in a particular area," Kurt said. "It's also a fun way to learn a little bit more about how local government works."
Interested parties can receive an application or additional information on the City of Edina's website or by calling City Clerk Deb Mangen at 952-826-0408.
All candidates must be approved by the Edina City Council, with plans to interview applicants at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7, 11 and 20. Final appointments will be made in March.
Applications for one-year student appointments to the various groups will be accepted in the spring, with the terms beginning at the start of the 2013-14 school year.
